In America, we don’t put up with would-be kings.
We think it’s safe to say that things are going south. Our access to resources is being cut, blocked, and restricted. Our ability to speak up — voting, protesting, posting online — is being restricted. Our basic rights as people are being restricted. In other words, our country is being forced into a fascist autocracy that no one agreed to.
The president thinks his rule is absolute. But here in America, we don’t want kings, and we won’t back down against blatant corruption and inhumane cruelty. Our peaceful movement is only getting bigger and stronger, and together we can make it a lot harder for that autocratic rule and dehumanizing fascism to seep into our community.
Join us at Withington Park on Saturday, October 18th, from 12-2! We’re planning for speakers, music of many genres, organizations, and a variety of calls to action — including a march at 2PM and direct action until 3PM. Let’s rally together!
Reminder
A core principle behind all No Kings events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values and to act lawfully at these events. Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, should not be brought to events.
Our local policy is this: Everyone is welcome — unless you make others feel unwelcome. We do not tolerate the instigation of infighting. If conflicts are heating up between you, other protesters, or bad actors (like angry drivers or counterprotesters), do not engage any further. Notes from the organizer: We will be doing a march down city sidewalks. We estimate 15ish minutes there. That will be followed by direct action that involves doing things on the ground. I don’t want to reveal the destination of the march nor the exact plans publicly yet.
