Starting Tuesday, November 11th, 2025, the Jackson County Democratic Committee office will be hosting a temporary food bank through the end of the month, at 134 N. Mechanic St. Jackson, Michigan, (517) 783-6247. Non-perishable food items can be dropped off at the Jackson County Democratic Committee office so our volunteers can distribute it to local pantries.
The JCDC is accepting donations of non-perishable food items to distribute to Jackson area pantries.
Hours are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 11am to 3 pm.

Donations can be brought to the Dem’s Lunch Bunch, which is a casual social meeting for Democrats to hear speakers, chat, and make donations. The Dem’s Lunch Bunch is held monthly, the second Friday of every month, at Steve’s Ranch in the side room. It starts at 11:00 a.m.
This month the Lunch Bunch will meet on Friday, November 14th, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Steve’s Ranch. This is a nice sized crowd, so come a few minutes early. Please feel free to bring your non-perishable food items and stay for the fun.
Some suggested donations are:
- canned soups
- canned veggies
- canned fruits
- peanut butter
- jelly
- cereal
- condiments
- tuna fish
*Non-food items to consider: toothpaste, toilet paper and paper towels.
This month, at our regular monthly meeting, we are hosting a guest speaker to discuss the needs of Jackson County veterans. This is an open meeting for the public to listen and speak about the needs of local veterans. You will be able to deliver your non-perishable donation to that meeting. November 17th, 6pm at the Jackson County Democratic Committee office, 134 N. Mechanic St. Jackson, Michigan. This meeting is also well attended so consider arriving early with your non-perishable food items.
Here are some basic facts about veterans in Jackson County and how your food donation could help veterans get through the SNAP instability:
- Data from October 2025 reports that 38,513 Michigan veterans were receiving SNAP benefits.
- All across Michigan, 10% of Michigan Veterans are on SNAP.
- Jackson County has approximately 8,488 veterans, which means, there could be approximately 848 individual veterans struggling on SNAP benefits right here in Jackson. You can help them with your non-perishable food donation at our office at 134 N. Mechanic St., Jackson, Michigan.
We will get all donations to a local food bank. We have volunteers, and vehicles, but if you want to donate your time, we are reachable at (517) 783-6247.
