Update: C.B. Smith has suspended his campaign for the 7th District seat and endorsed fellow Democrat Gretchen Driskell.
“I believe she is better positioned to beat my Republican opponent than I am. … I heartily and enthusiastically endorse Gretchen in this race, and I encourage my supporters to do the same,” he wrote on his campaign website.
C.B. Smith of Saline has announced his campaign to challenge U.S. Rep. Tim Walberg in Michigan’s 7th U.S. House District. He kicked off his campaign Sept. 4.

“I’m running for a simple reason: I’m grateful for the hard work of my parents in giving me the opportunities I’ve had in life, and I take the lessons I learned from them in how I try to raise my daughters. I hope I can do right by them the way my parents did right by me,” Smith says on his campaign website.
He highlighted the economy, education and climate change as key issues on which he plans to challenge Walberg, a six-term Republican incumbent from Tipton.
